Southern Region Virginia Accommodations

Visitors to the southern region of the Delmarva Peninsula will discover an area rich in history and natural beauty just as John Smith encountered when exploring the area before sailing on to Jamestown with the help of the legendary Indian tribe whose chief was Pocohantas' father. Connected to mainland Virginia by one of the engineering marvels of the world, The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, and home to the Eastern Shore of Virginia Wildlife Refuge and Kiptopeke State Park, this area is abundant with wildlife and a haven for birdwatchers as birds flock to this region while on their migratory path during the fall and spring.
Public bay beaches are located at Kiptopeke State Park and in Cape Charles.

Once the largest town on the Eastern Shore, Cape Charles is again awakening as a resort destination with the opening of the Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course at Bay Creek. Many architectural gems are located and being restored to their splendor in this once bustling railroad town and is the home to bed and breakfasts, several restaurants, shops, museum and art galleries all within easy walking distances. A stay at a Cape Charles Virginia bed and breakfast will no doubt be an exquisite experience.

History abounds in Eastville, Northampton County's seat, where courthouse records date back to the 1600's. These records, the oldest in the country, and the debtor's prison, are both open for public viewing. There are hotels in Eastville as well as restaurants.

Whether you're interested in outdoor or water activities, biking our friendly and flat byways, or shopping for that treasured antique or original piece of art, we invite you to come rock on our porches, enjoy our bed and breakfasts, and discover East Coast sunsets like you've never seen on the unspoiled shores of Virginia's Eastern Shore.
